Emotional and energetic blocks can manifest in our bodies in many different ways – from feelings of anxiety and stress, to patterns of self sabotage, to holding a negative self image. These blocks can prevent us from fully experiencing and expressing our emotions, and can have a negative impact on our overall well-being.
For me, I carried those feelings for years. And even when I knew I had them, and I wanted to let them go, it wasn’t something I could “just do”. Many people give the “advice” of “just stop thinking those thoughts”, “just change your beliefs”…but no one ever tells you HOW.
I spent years trying different techniques, and techniques within techniques. Looking back, the one that’s stuck with me is meditation. And I know, you’ve probably heard that a million times. But I do a very specific process which I call Mindworx, which is a sub-category of meditation.
Meditation can be a powerful tool for releasing these blocks and improving our emotional and physical health. When we meditate, we bring our attention inward, creating space for self-inquiry and self-awareness. This can help us to identify and release patterns of negative thought and behavior, and to cultivate a greater sense of self-acceptance and self-compassion.
Here are a few specific things I struggled with which I used meditation to release:
Negative self image
Negative self image can manifest as a pervasive sense of self-doubt or inadequacy, and can be a major block to our overall well-being. Loving-kindness meditation and self-inquiry can be helpful practices for cultivating self-acceptance and self-compassion. In loving-kindness meditation, we silently repeat phrases of loving-kindness to ourselves and others, gradually expanding our circle of compassion to include all beings. Self-inquiry involves reflecting on our thoughts and beliefs about ourselves, and questioning whether they are based in truth or are simply negative thought patterns.
Trauma
Trauma can become stuck in our bodies and create energetic blocks, leading to a range of physical and emotional symptoms. It is important to work with a trained therapist or counselor when dealing with trauma, and to incorporate practices such as body scan meditation or trauma-sensitive yoga into your meditation routine. These practices involve paying attention to physical sensations in the body, and can help to release stored trauma and improve emotional regulation.
Self sabotage
Self sabotage can manifest as patterns of self-destructive behavior or thoughts, and can be a major obstacle to our goals and well-being. Meditation practices such as journaling or visualization can be helpful in identifying and releasing these patterns. In journaling, we write down our thoughts and feelings, allowing us to gain greater insight into our motivations and behaviors. Visualization involves creating mental images or scenes that can help us to overcome negative thought patterns and cultivate a sense of self-empowerment.
Emotional blocks
Emotional blocks can prevent us from fully experiencing and expressing our emotions, leading to a sense of disconnection and disconnection from others. Mindfulness and acceptance-based practices such as emotion-focused meditation or breathwork can be helpful in releasing these blocks. In emotion-focused meditation, we bring our attention to our emotional experience, allowing ourselves to fully feel and explore our emotions without judgment. Breathwork involves focusing on the breath as a way of calming the mind and cultivating a sense of presence and acceptance.
Its hard to carry these emotional burdens…that’s what suffering is. Luckily for me, I’m naturally ambitious and wont give up on something I desire. This was important because healing and releasing these weights took everything I had since no one really had a how-to, and therapy wasn’t working for me.
Mindworx meditation was the most powerful tool I found for releasing emotional and energetic blocks and improving my overall well-being. By incorporating specific techniques such as loving-kindness meditation, self-inquiry, body scan meditation, journaling, re-parenting, emotion-focused meditation, and breathwork, I grew my self-awareness, self-acceptance, and emotional regulation.
